It takes a dedicated group of volunteers to provide the education and protection necessary for successful sea turtle preservation.

In order to meet expanded needs in the years to come as Hilton Head Island continues to flourish as a desirable eco-tourism and vacation destination, Turtle Trackers has taken a huge step to ensure future programs will be funded.

It really takes a village to protect the sea turtles nesting and hatching on Hilton Head Island's beaches each year from May to October. Turtle Trackers has established an endowment fund at the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry to support sea turtle conservation efforts and programs that help the Turtle Trackers organization achieve its mission.

“Turtle Trackers of Hilton Head Island is a volunteer, nonprofit organization whose mission is to assist with the preservation of our endangered sea turtles and promote awareness by educating the public and connecting with local partners.

The donations we receive fund sea turtle preservation efforts and programs that allow Turtle Trackers to carry out their mission.”

Turtle Trackers programs include daily Beach Sweeps to "put the beach to bed," ensuring that the beach is flat, clean, and dark for nesting and hatching turtles.

Turtle Trackers offer Learning Stations, Retail and Rental Outreach, Beach Ambassadors, Education Programs, and more.
